New Book Reveals Truth, Suffering and Aftermath of Domestic Violence

Author portrays horrific struggle of trying to stop abuse in her life. Marriage counseling and psychiatrists did not help. When she finally separates and tries to divorce her husband, the abuse only escalated. Pleas to the judge were ignored and her lawyer walks out on her. On the verge of murdering her husband to finally end the abuse and gain peace in her life, she experiences an supernatural spiritual conversion and builds an altar for battered women in her bedroom.

Kelly Cyr had everything a woman could ever want. A wonderful career, a beautiful home, five children she adored and a good future that could only promise more. The only problem is that her husband could not quit abusing her. Her battered life cloaked in secrecy, she kept trying to make the marriage work out of love for her family and her husband. Attempts at marriage counseling only made it worse and going to psychiatrists turned her life into a nightmare. When she could no longer take it, she served a restraining order.
Cyr writes candidly about how her life deteriorates after being drug from one court hearing after another. Acting out of rage and revenge, her husband makes good on his threat, saying, “I will get you if it takes every dime I have!” Her lawyer walks out on her and the judge ignores her pleas to allow her to move to run from him. Having no protection, she is forced to withstand his continual violence towards her.

Dominating her, he is successful in getting everything he wants. Instead of killing her husband, she caves in and has a nervous breakdown. Poignantly, she describes how she built an altar for battered women, fervently praying to God for answers and vowing to Him that she will help other battered women when this is all over, if He only helps her.

This is a horrific and harrowing account of what really happens during domestic violence. The author writes with great courage of her ordeal in the hope that the public becomes aware of what really happens in an abusive relationship and gains understanding. She writes to be a voice for battered women. Her mission now is to stop domestic violence.
